Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Empowered Maths is operated by Katrina Mardell in New South Wales, Australia. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to katrinamardell@empoweredtuition.com.au.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use Empowered Maths, we may collect your name, email address, account identifier, teaching role, selected grades, preferred grade, membership plan and status, payment and subscription references, support communications, affiliate details, referral information and resource-download activity.

For free resources, we may collect the contact and teaching information you choose to provide, together with the resource requested and any marketing preference.

PayPal processes payment credentials. Empowered Maths does not receive or store your full card number or PayPal password.

3. How we collect information

We collect information directly when you create an account, buy or manage a membership, request a free resource, join the affiliate program, contact us or update your profile. We also collect limited technical and activity information when you follow an affiliate link, sign in or download a protected resource.

4. Why we use it

We use personal information to create and secure accounts, verify email addresses, process and reconcile memberships, provide protected downloads, personalise the member library, send essential service messages, answer support requests, prevent misuse, keep financial records, measure resource use and administer referrals and affiliate payments.

Marketing messages will be sent only where permission or another lawful basis applies. You can unsubscribe from marketing without affecting essential account, payment or security messages.

5. Service providers and disclosures

We disclose information only where reasonably needed to operate the service, comply with law, protect rights or respond to a valid legal request. Current providers include Google Firebase for authentication, database, file storage and server functions; PayPal for subscriptions and payments; and the website hosting services used to deliver the site.

These providers have their own privacy and security practices. Some providers may store or process information outside Australia. Countries and processing locations may change as their services develop.

6. Affiliate privacy

Affiliate links may store a referral code and capture a click event for up to 30 days. An affiliate dashboard receives only limited referral information, such as a masked email address, plan progress and commission status. Affiliates are not given a member’s full payment information.

7. Cookies and local browser storage

We use essential browser storage to support sign-in, security, referral attribution and website operation. PayPal may use its own cookies or similar technologies when payment controls are displayed. Browser settings can restrict storage, although doing so may prevent sign-in, payment or referral features from working correctly.

8. Security and retention

We use access controls, verified sign-in, protected server functions and restricted file delivery to protect information. No online system can guarantee absolute security. We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, meet tax and recordkeeping obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and enforce agreements, then delete or de-identify it where appropriate.

9. Access, correction and complaints

You may ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you, or raise a privacy concern, by emailing us. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within a reasonable time and explain if a request cannot be completed.

If you are not satisfied with our response and the Privacy Act applies, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

10. Children

Membership accounts and purchases must be created by an adult. The service is designed for educators and parents or carers. Please do not provide a child’s personal information through the website unless it is reasonably necessary and you have authority to do so.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service, providers or law changes. The effective date above shows the current version. Material changes will be communicated where reasonably appropriate.
